An interview with DeeAnn Schaefer, the Humane Educator at the CNY Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (CNY SPCA)

In the interview below, The Faces of Syracuse sat down with DeeAnn Schaefer, the Humane Educator and Administrative Assistant at the Central New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (CNY SPCA).
 
DeeAnn Schaefer has been in animal welfare for 22 years and started with the CNY SPCA about 5 years ago as a volunteer. However, today, her primary role at CNY SPCA is to teach Humane Education. The Humane Education Program at the CNY SPCA is geared for ages Pre-K through College and talks about animal safety and care, what an animal shelter does and animal abuse.
 
DeeAnn shares with us that despite getting a degree in Business Management with a minor in Accounting, her passion has always been animals. In her interview below learn more about the CNY SPCA and what led DeeAnn to follow her passion.

The CNY SPCA is a nonprofit animal shelter located in Syracuse, NY with a mission to make our community a kinder place for all animals. CNY SPCA provides many services for the animals in the CNY community, including adoption, education, and investigation into animal cruelty.
